Revised Food Recycling Law! Parting from the "flexible system"
The Food Recycling Law (Act on Promotion of Recycling of Food Recycling Resources) enacted in 2000 was significantly revised in 2007.
■Implementation rate of recycling is set for the individual food-related business!
With 2007 as the base year, every financial year a new limit is set for food-related businesses. It is necessary to meet exceed this standard implementation rate requirements.
■The implementation rate in 2008 is at least 20%!
As before the revision, regardless of the amount generated, the implementation rate of at least 20% is required in fiscal 2008, including small and medium-sized businesses.
■The goal is to achieve a significant implementation rate (by industry) by 2012!
Food manufacturing: 85% Food retail: 45%
Food wholesale industry: 70% Food service industry: 40%
■Mandatory regular reporting!
Businesses that emit large amounts (100 tons or more) of waste annually are required to report the actual values of recycling every year.
■Addition of recycling method!
Additional items subject to recycling laws have been added to promote recycling, such as:
- Fuels and reducing agents produced by carbonization
- Ethanol
■New recycling business plan certification system!
A municipal waste permit is no longer required for Companies with business plans that have been certified as having a complete food recycling loop.
